Artist Statement -
The subject of my painting is the Underwater world. I was fascinated by the world under the sea ever since I was a kid, and before I knew it, it became my style. I was attracted by the various colours and shapes of small conch shells and pebbles. I have been working on this theme since my college days. I remember, when I was in the final year of my Diploma, I was so fortunate that I got a complete question paper based on this topic and I passed with distinction.
As I progressed in my career, my style and colour patterns changed, yet I preferred the same subject. "Underwater World" as the name itself shows how deep and vast this subject can be, I feel that whatever we live and experience in our lives is somehow expressed in our artwork.
After marriage, I moved to Konkan and my relationship with the beaches became stronger, so my theme became an inseparable part of my life. In fact, now apart from conch shells many other things like fish, corals, tortoises, turtles, etc were added to my artworks. Nature in itself is so beautiful and mesmerizing that showing it through paintings becomes a very difficult task and a huge responsibility on the shoulders of an artist. I worked hard and mastered the art with a lot of practice. As a result, I started getting a lot of opportunities. I had the privilege of exhibiting my artwork and being a part of several Group and Solo shows at the Jehangir Art Gallery and Nehru Centre Art Gallery. I have also participated in many art shows and won awards and received accolades from many people.
I hope that this fulfilling and happy relationship I have with art will never end and become as mesmerizing and beautiful as the Underwater World.
